Andres is the owner and cofounder of Métrica, a design studio with international scope. Born in Bogota and having lived in Miami, New York, Seattle, Rome and Abu Dhabi, Andrés brings a unique outlook to his work. He is the firm´s Director of Design, and oversees the conceptualization, design, and BIM implementation for every project in the office.
Andres started his career in Bellevue, under the employ of MG2 Design. During that time he participated in a number of large-scale, and high-rise projects as a designer, including, among others, the winning Master Plan for Qingdao Technological University in China, the Fifth Ave Towers in Seattle, the Dong Guan Hotel Metropolis in Shanghai, and the Towers of Capitol Mall, in Sacramento, California – at the time, the largest approved project in the west coast of the United States. Focused on expanding his experience, he joined high-end residential firm Suyama Peterson Deguchi in Seattle, and later relocated to New York to work with the office of Viñoly. In 2010 Andrés relocated to the United Arab Emirates, where, still under the employ of Viñoly, he was in charge of delivering the Campus Center of NYUAD – the university’s emblematic landmark building – from conception through completion. For this project, Andres was based on site for almost 4 years, where he coordinated the efforts of multiple teams of architects, consultants, contractors, and fabricators in a culturally diverse environment. In 2014, Andres founded Métrica, a design studio with a global footprint (www.metrica.us). His portfolio of work includes designs for single-family homes, mixed-use projects, sport facilities, cultural buildings, aviation facilities, high-rise towers and master plans. |
