Andrew Arana is a senior IT leader with 20+ years of experience delivering business value. Andrew serves as Principal Site Reliability Engineering Manager at Microsoft. At Microsoft, Andrew works with the Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection engineering team to build one of the world’s most advanced Cybersecurity solutions that protects millions of computers on a global scale. He has industry experience in healthcare, law enforcement, telecommunications, and software. Andrew has led cross-functional IT teams in multiple states and for organizations of varying sizes. Andrew has experience working for Fortune 500 companies including Microsoft, American Electric Power, AT&T, and T-Mobile.
Andrew’s experience demonstrates that lack of technical expertise is rarely what keeps companies from building great software. To build great software, it is critical to listen to customers and to inspire all team members to become leaders. Andrew increases team productivity by moving diverse teams from the leader-follower model to the leader-leader model. That way team members take ownership and pride in delivering their best work. Andrew’s journey started when he moved from Belize to the US on a college scholarship. Andrew earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Marine Biology. He learned about software development at his first job after graduate school. Andrew has traveled extensively. He has visited all 7 continents and over 50 countries. He loves playing guitar and enjoying the great outdoors with his wife and two children. |
